Registration and Networking: 11:30 a.m. –
Noon | Luncheon: Noon – 1:30 p.m.
During the Century 16 Theater shooting in 2012, Tracy Weise served as the lead media relations consultant for The Medical Center of Aurora. She was immediately called to support the hospital during the ER crisis that resulted from the shooting. The international media exposure was immediate and relentless. Tracy and her team fielded more than 300 requests for interviews in less than 36 hours while effectively managing patients, their families, physicians, nurses and the media.
Join Tracy for a moving and educational presentation based on photography taken during the July 2012 crisis and the stories those photos tell. The presentation will focus on the challenges public relations professionals face during a crisis and strategies for managing those challenges. At the end of the presentation, attendees will understand:
- Social media's new and unexpected impact on crisis communications and tips on managing social media.
- New tactics to effectively manage media and other audiences during a crisis.
- Strategies to include in crisis planning and program execution.
Tracy is president and co-founder of Weise Communications, Inc., an integrated advertising and public relations agency. She oversees account services work at the agency and provides communication and marketing counsel to her clients. Tracy also designs and executes international, national and local communications programs.
